This time I am emulating a YouTube channel that is an absolute favourite of mine Kurzgesagt. They master the 2D flat animation style, with good humour at the same time. That, coupled with the fact that it is bucketing down in Cairns today inspired me to take on a simple weather icon in today’s #15minmograph.
If I had but 5 mins more I would play with the out animation on the cloud, but all-in-all I think it would make Kurzgesagt proud.
We’ve all been there the painfully common sidewalk waltz, the get-past-polka, the awkward dance.
Today’s #15minmograph plays with just that. The anticipation, poor timing and relief of exit as one “partner” round the other and they return on their way. Since completing animation bootcamp, I have found anticipation and overshoot to really help with giving character to even the simplest of characters. That was my goal today, take something painfully human and make it seem even remotely believable in squares.

Here we go, Day 4 of the #15minmograph challenge. I have a feeling I am going to get less and less detailed in these posts about it.
I am really trying to hit all the bases of motion design. Character – check. Vector – check. Today we check off typography. Check.
This is an animation move you see a lot in explainers and I am yet to have used it in any client work, which is weird because I really like the look. It is clean, simple and super illustrative, and now I know I can do it in 15 mins. What I also reinforced today is my love for Coolors.co. It is amazing. With a tap of the spacebar and you have an elegant or bright or complementary colour palette hex values and all. Need to build a palette around and already existing colour or colours, lock them in and <spacebar>. Now, it may sound like I am sponsored by them or something. I’m not, just a major fangirl.
