Day 1 – The eye

01.22.2017 by Hayley Rollason //

So here we are Day 1 of the #15minmograph challenge and I had no idea what to do. I foresee this becoming a pattern, keen as a bean but no ideas to speak of. I figured I would just open up Coolors.co (this is where I am building my colour palette for each day), pick some colours, open After Effects and hope inspiration would hit somewhere along the way.

At this stage of the challenge, I have no idea what I can accomplish in 15 mins so I don’t know how simple or ambitious I can be. Finally, after about 5 mins of ticking timer and adding a solid layer, I figured I would just build an eye. With simple shape layers and masks, looping some keyframes and toying with the value graphs I was able to do it. The timer went off with just one more graph untouched so I left it. This isn’t about being perfect, in fact, it is quite the opposite, be messy, be quick and make something, so here it is, The Eye:

30 Days of AE – The Predki

06.10.2016 by Hayley Rollason //

Jumping ahead – not because I didn’t do the tutorial but because I didn’t like the result – to Day 8 of School of Motion’s 30 Days of After Effects.

This one show a technique dubbed “The Predki” and is described as the go-to technique for bouncy and fun animations.
