Day 3 of School of Motion’s 30 Days of After Effects looked at using expressions to seemlessly line up gears.
30 Days of AE – Tunnel Vision
Ahead of signing up to the School of Motion Animation Bootcamp, I am trying to expose myself to as much of their tutorials as possible. This is for two reasons:
- It gets me super excited
- Gets me use to their teaching style and what regular tools, shortcuts, and techniques are helpful to have preloaded
This one is Day 2 – Polar Coordinates is your friend of the 30 Days of After Effects.

MedicineList+ App Explainer
Contracting for Anvil Media, I recently produced an animated explainer video for MedicineList+. This is a smartphone app to help people by managing their medications and assisting them in talking with medical professionals.
Being an app with a wide variety of use cases, the script was written around 3 key character, Jay, Edith and Sarah. Each character has different conditions, medications, doctors and lifestyles to manage, but with each, the app is a big help. This is clearly communicated through animation as we are able to transplant all aspects of the person’s experiences into a single frame and are therefore able to communicate the benefits in one hit but without overwhelming the viewer.
Along with this 3.5 min version, 4 x 30-second versions were also produced. Separating each of the character stories into a single piece as well as a piece targeting Doctors and medical professionals to encourage them to share the app with their patients.
