Results from the Metro Screen sound design short course.
Assignment: to build a soundtrack to the this scene from the 1925 silent film Metropolis

The course was great fun. Spread over three days (on the weekend) we were taught the whole sound process for a film. From creating a sound sheet to recording, building and editing. We were introduced to a range of equipment from mics to recorders, mixing desks to software. We used Reaper to complete our project a software I would recommend to anyone wanting to take sound seriously but are not up to purchasing ProTools. It is well maintained with an active and clever community.

At only $500 for the whole three days I would definitely recommend this as a first step for anyone wanting to up-skill in sound or move towards a sound design career.

We only captured a very small amount of video from my wedding day, some part of me regrets this but I had so much fun with what was captured that it is hard to hold on to that regret and with what was captured I was able to cut together a little teaser of the day. I won’t post that here as it is full of the faces of friends and family who may or may not want to be featured.

What I will show you is the titles I produced for the teaser. Made from our wedding stationary design that my husband and I made ourselves, I had the pleasure of bringing to life the retro beach feel with some puppet and layering elements.

As some of you may know I almost always make sure I learn a new skill when I take on a personal project. For this project it was the rope dynamics. It took a bit of searching to find a good tutorial for this effect as most videos just showed other peoples results or a template you could purchase/download. Finally I found a Tuts+ tutorial, they offer some really great tutorials across many digital skills.

Lights on and be seen

Produced whilst employed at IAG Research Centre for the NRMA Insurance brand this video is a guide on how to use you headlights. With tips around when to turn them on and how automatic and daytime running lights affect this.

Primarily my colleagues job, I was assisted with script writing, on hand to assist with camera and driving on set, and gave feedback through the edit process.

This work was released on YouTube alongside a broadcast media release for Channel 7 News.

Tech Specs:
Shot on Canon DSLRs and GoPros, using a combo of natural lighting and LED light panels.
Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro with graphics and animation completed in Adobe Illustrator and After Effects.
Music sourced from Premium Beats.
