Part 1: 2015 Staturday Infographics

Inspired by a kinetic typography tutorial by Jesse Rosten I watched one Learning Day, Staturday is a short series expressing facts and figured from the world of video marketing reinforcing the power, reach and potential for video in marketing and promotional strategies.

This first episode the stat was sourced from the Merchant Marketing Group’s 2015 Digital Marketing Predictions and quantifies the amount of mobile traffic that is video, this also highlights the significance optimising video for mobile.

Beginning as a 5 part series in 2015 (with plans to release 1 per month throughout 2016) each episode is released on a Saturday mid afternoon on the Curl Co. Productions Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

Part 2 – Power of Real Estate Video

AMI Safety Series Rebrand

Produced whilst employed at IAG Research Centre, this series was a rebrand of previous advocacy videos produced for other IAG brands and refreshed for New Zealand audiences. With a bright and cute look, most of the work surrounded adapting the animations and motion graphics to fit the look and feel of AMI. Swapping out the clean science look of RACV or the friendly, trendy NRMA Insurance for bouncing bright yellow speech bubbles.

As there was a tight deadline for this project and some scripting to accompany, reflecting law differences between Australian and NZ, so we spread out the rebrands across myself, my colleague and a contractor that assisted with projects from time-to-time. We set out how we were approaching the branding first, in order to maintain consistency across the series.

Lane Filtering

Produced whilst employed at IAG Research Centre these NRMA Insurance videos take a look at the introduction of motorcycle lane filtering laws in NSW. Informing viewers on the laws and highlighting some dangers and risks associated with lane filtering. As this is a new law versions were produced targeted at motorcycle riders and one for car drivers.

Collaboratively produced, my colleague and I both set about shooting and then separated in post with one taking the motorcycle version and the other the car version, I took on the motorcycle version. There was overlap in the animations and in these parts we again worked together.

As this type of video requires ‘catching’ people in the act of doing the wrong thing shooting took an enormous amount of time, driving around and trolling through hours of on-car action cam footage.

Tech Specs:
Shot on a combo Canon DSLR, GoPro and Drift Cam in entirely natural light.
Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro with graphics and animations produced in Illustrator and After Effects.
Voice over by Joel Philips.
